Jason Andrewartha has seized his way through to the 2018 State Champion of Champion Singles in style, defeating his opponent in Rockhampton at the Zone Playoffs. The club, district and now zone singles champion crushed his opponent in an brilliant ascendancy, 25-8, and has booked a spot in the final 8 in the state. He will contest this at Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast on October 24th and 25th. This not only is a chance for Jason to win the State Champion of Champion singles, but also a chance to win the Australian Champion of Champion Singles, where the winner will represent Australia in the World Champion of Champion singles. ‘The Big Red Machine’ was victorious in the Australian Champion of Champion pairs with his Tantitha Bowls Club teammate, and good friend Steve McNamee, in late 2014. The pairs discipline no longer continues.
In the pairs, Jason and Darren McCracken tried their almighty hardest to continue their winning streak. Unfortunately, it came to an end after a tough tussle that went right down the wire with an extra end being won by their opponents to claim the victory 19-18. An impeccable effort by both boys once again.
We wish our biggest congrats to both players, and especially wish Jason all the best for the state finals contested in October!!! Go the Tigers!
